1. Our approach
Waypoint Diary is designed to work in device-only mode. In that mode, your diary data stays on your device and we do not require you to create an account. You may choose to enable optional services—such as private sync, cloud media storage, map services, and public sharing. This policy describes both modes.
2. Information you create
Depending on the features you use, the app can store personal content you choose to add, including journal text, photos, voice memos, place labels, coordinates, dates, ratings, elements, collections, trips, and habits. This content is used to show your diary back to you and provide requested functions such as maps, timelines, replays, search, and export.
3. Location information
Waypoint Diary accesses location only after you grant permission and use a feature that needs it, such as saving a current location, centering the map, recording a trip, or reading location metadata from a photo. You can decline, revoke, or limit location permission through your device settings. You may also add a memory at a place you choose instead of your current location.
4. Device-only mode
When you choose device-only mode, private diary records and app-created media are stored locally. The app does not use Supabase sync for that diary. You remain responsible for your device backups and for securing any exported files you create.
5. Optional accounts, sync, and media storage
If you choose to sign in and enable private sync, we process account and diary information needed to synchronize your selected data between your devices. If you connect supported cloud storage for media, app-created photos and voice memos may be uploaded to that storage to provide the feature you requested. These optional services are not enabled merely by installing the app.
6. Public share links
When you explicitly publish a share link, Waypoint Diary makes the selected, limited share projection available to recipients with that link. Share links are designed to be revocable and may expire. Do not share a link if its contents include sensitive information. We do not intentionally expose the rest of your private diary through a share link.
7. Service providers
We use service providers only to operate features you select or to distribute the app. These may include map providers, authentication and synchronization infrastructure, optional cloud-storage providers, and Apple or Google app-store services. Their handling of information is governed by their own policies and your settings with them.
8. Analytics and notifications
The app may record limited, privacy-conscious product events to improve feature reliability where you have enabled the relevant mode. Device-only mode keeps those app measurements local. A daily reflection reminder uses a local device notification; it is not a message sent from our servers.
9. Retention and deletion
You can delete individual content in the app. If you use a synced account, you can request account deletion. This removes associated server-side diary data and signs out active sessions, subject to retention of only a minimal, non-sensitive receipt where required for operational accountability. Information held by connected third-party providers remains subject to their retention controls.
10. Security
We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect optional synced information. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and you should protect access to your device and account. We recommend using your device’s screen lock and keeping application software updated.
11. Children
Waypoint Diary is not directed to children under the minimum age required to consent to data processing in their jurisdiction. Do not create an account for a child unless you are authorized to do so.
12. Changes and contact
